East Devon Ramblers Group

Welcome to the website of the East Devon Group of the Ramblers. We are an enthusiastic and friendly walking group, based in beautiful East Devon, and, if you are interested in walking, we invite you to walk with us.

Walking with the East Devon Group is a great way to walk in good company, meet new people, stay or get fit and have an invigorating day out in the countryside.

We celebrated our 40th year in 2010 and we believe that we can offer residents in the area, and visitors, the attractions of walking with a well established, locally run group that also benefits from being part of a national walking organisation.

The East Devon Group organises a variety of guided walks every week of the year. Our experienced leaders take walks in East Devon, Mid Devon, West Dorset, Somerset, Dartmoor and Exmoor. A number of our walks include sections of the Jurassic Coast, Britain’s first natural World Heritage Site.
The walking environment ranges from the relatively well maintained paths of East Devon to the open moorland of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Our walks range from strenuous, for the very fit walker, to more leisurely paced walks but still requiring a reasonable level of fitness. Please see our walk with us page for more information about walking with us, including our current walks and which style of walk e.g. leisurely, moderate or strenuous is right for you.

The group also organises a variety of other activities:
 group walking holidays in Britain and in Europe
 social events such as quiz nights, skittles and suppers
 an annual Christmas lunch

The Ramblers is the largest representative body of walkers in the UK and we support the Ramblers’ objectives of protecting and enhancing public paths through our local network of footpath officers and by liasing with interested parties.
